Does your child's Pediatrician require annual blood work?

hello there. I have a 2 year old daughter who is very healthy...great height/.weight,very talkative,eats well..etc. Her pediatrician required her to have "routine bloodwork" done when she was just 12 months old. This was torture! ( for her and me)..I had to hold her down while the lady tried to find her little vein and pull blood from her...while missing a few times and poking again and again.I just took my daughter for her 2 year old physical and the doctor has ordered her to get bloodwork done again! I just wanted to know your thoughts on this. Does your child's pediatrician require this as well??
