How can I spend time with my son but also have some sort of life of my own?
You are so not alone! I felt the same way, I was always just trying to keep my kid occupied and watching the clock for my next break. I just want to encourage you to hang in there and enjoy these baby months. Believe me believe me believe me they go fast. The first 2-3 years of parenting is full time 24/7. But believe me all of a sudden they have little buddies and become more independent and it ends. Your breaks will get longer and longer as each year goes by. Hang in there. Before you know it he will be in Kindergarten and have some sort of sports practice for an hour, or a party for 2 hours, then he will have sleep overs. Soon he will spend more and more time playing with his toys and not need you every 10 minutes. It will be every 30 minutes, then every hour, then after school! Just try and realize you have the rest of your life to be you and do the things you love but just a precious 48 to60 months to be the WORLD to this little boy before he is off playing Legos and being more independent.
