I am a troll hunter with a confusion of weapons in WoW!!!!?

I have a staff but i also dont know weather i need to use a stave or just an axe i have trained myself in everything i can in origgmer and thunder bluff but i dont know if i can have a shortsword either. I am only level 16 going on 17 very soon probably next kill. but i have a staff and i dont know iif it is really what i want because it seemed like it would go better with a magic user more than me but its attack was higher so i equiped it. Im so confused to i get an axe or do i keep the staff??????
