Is it more environmentally friendly to throw away used toilet paper in the wastebasket, or the toilet?

I would say it depends entirely on who's environment you're talking about. If you mean the environment of your household, then it goes in the toilet. If you're talking about the global environment, then the toilet too, because it desolves very quickly & goes through water treatment plants. So I guess it doesn't matter what environment.
